Michael D. Hansen, Managing Director and Principal

hansenBuffalo Jump provides capital and development support into the Renewable Power and Renewable/Alternative Fuels arenas. Mike Hansen develops, acquires and finances companies and projects.

Prior to founding Buffalo Jump, Mike worked in wind project development with Babcock & Brown following its acquisition of Superior Renewable Energy LLC where Mike served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Superior (acquired by Babcock in August 2006).

Since 1995, Mike participated in or supervised numerous Mergers and Acquisitions (“M&A”) (over $9Bn in announced transactions) and Corporate Finance (over $2Bn in funding) transactions encompassing multiple industries for both private and public companies. As both an investment banker and practicing corporate attorney, his experience includes mergers and acquisitions; determination of the appropriate basis of exchange for mergers; advising and negotiating the sales and purchases of companies; reorganizations and recapitalizations; public equity offerings, public debt offerings, and private placements. Mike has served as strategic advisor to companies from preincorporation to IPO. He has participated in numerous analytical and statistical assignments, including studies of value, market structure, restricted securities, and cost of capital.

From 1995 to 2000, Mike served corporate legal clients with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in Houston, practicing corporate law in the securities, M&A and general corporate areas.

From 2000 to 2005, Mike led transaction teams and investment banking practices with Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Houston, and Howard Frazier Barker Elliott (“HFBE”) in Houston respectively. Most recently at HFBE, Mike served as Senior Managing Director leading the Mergers and Acquisitions practice in closing transactions valued at over $300MM.

Mike holds a JD and MBA from The University of Texas and a BS in Mathematics from Georgetown University.
